Inspired by Sir Anthony van Dyck’s portrait ‘Charles I in Garter Robes’ (c.1636) with the focus now set on the secular deities or Fates adorned in the former’s lavish robes and wading through a mass of sketched humanoid figures, suspended by the proverbial strand of fate.
