Dusk

Here three distinct female figures appear to be experiencing the same moment of dusk. The smallest and most central figure, which stages the environment, was copied from Henry Fuseli’s ‘Chriemhild in a Dream Sees Siegfried Dead.’ With the incorporation of a live model, the artist is replacing the dark original narrative with a more sensual interpretation of the relationship between the moment of dusk and the little death, or la petite mort.
