Classical Figure Study I.

Michael Allen Lowe is using typical Romanesque and Greek sculpture as the basis for these studies (Classical Figure Studies), utilizing established formal archetypes and using drawing materials (charcoal, chalk, pencil, and stain). Solvents are used to dissolve and scrape away the figure-ground to reveal under-painting, tone, and texture.
