Inspired by Rubens’ second version of ‘Emperor Theodosius refused Entry into a Milan Cathedral’ (c.1619), ‘Beauty’ is represented here again by a depiction of Leda from Greek mythology, lying here defeated and sprawled across a carved monolith, sacrificed in judgment.
